I’m still here and at the same time not I can’t feel myself I can’t see myself I’m alarmed by my dissociation quickly I search for myself a pinprick of light appears deep in the darkness I travel towards it I move through the slimy weeds the water is chilling I look for answers the pinprick has now grown to a large orb it casts light on the shadows I can see images of the past of my past I see wounds and scars on the child that I once was I imagine them being healed I imagine wrapping my arms around my child self I imagine what should have happened instead of what did you see the mind can be tricked

everything is okay when I’m distracted I take all my pills and vitamins I exercise I light candles, use my infuser, and drink tea to soothe my mind I distract myself with tarot cards and good fortunes I find pleasure in pretty objects but when I sit here by myself I feel numb I feel distance I don’t feel real and I sometimes don’t know what to write my chest gets tight as though I’m being tested I need to go deeper but I’m too afraid to look it’s like looking at a necrotized wound I’m too afraid to peel back the bandages so I put more on I drink more tea, light more candles, buy

When the cold winds blow through the warm of the heart
The blood temperature drops and the mind goes numb
The legs give out and eyes close shut
The beating love in the heart gone like a torn drum.

Hello to all of my fellow writers. I've recently finished my novel and am trying to find representation. Finding an agent/publisher is hard for a first time author.
